Your Questions About Child Care Services

Mary asks…
for 2007 taxes, is it true for parent about gettin full refund for child care services?
I was told that if you file your taxes on a specific date you can get the full refund for all child care services that you paid for in 2007 instead of the normal 35%, is this true? and is so, would you happen to know the date?

admin answers:
Absolutely *not* true.

Mark asks…
How much does CCS (Child Care Services) pay of child care costs each month?
I just receive my application to get child care assistance from the state of TX. I know they dont pay for all of it, but about how much can i look at them paying eack month for my sons child care? Child care here is typically $500/mo for an infant, and i know i cant afford that, so im hoping it is a significant portion of it. Thanks for any help!
I work Full time and go to school full time

admin answers:
Do you have a job or are you in school? They typically pay for the hours you are at work. If you work 8-5 Mon-Fri, they will pay for that time, and you will have to pay a parent fee depending on how much you make. If you are in school and do not have a job, they pay for all the hours that you are in school.

James asks…
what is there for kids to do in Las Vegas? Are there hotels with child care services?
I am going to vegas in june with my son and i want to know what other than the hotel i am staying at is there to do with him (5) and where can I find a child care provider close to the strip.

admin answers:
I am not sure about hotels offering child care services, but the hotel that has a lot of kid friendly options would be the Excalibur. There is a game arcade in the lower level. Circus Circus casino offer’s free shows with circus acts. You may want to check out the shark experience and aquarium at Mandalay Bay and the dolphin experience and tiger exhibit at the Mirage. Plus at night you could check out the volcano errupting at the Mirage or the fountains at the Bellagio. There is the M&M Candy Factory on the strip – and for sightseeing you could go up to the top of the Eifel Tower at the Paris Casino or take a ride in the gondolas at the Venetion. Most hotels have swimming pools too for fun and relaxation. There is lots to do in Vegas that does not always has to be paired up with gambling, drinking and x-rated shows! Have fun!!

Chris asks…
Would it pay to have LATE night child care services?
This question is especially for those who have children!!!
I have a child care business with an after school age program. The children who are there LOVE it. We have a blast everyday. But we just don’t have very many. Right now we have nine kids, but only once a week where they are all there at one time.
I am wondering…. Do you think it would be a good idea to hire a teacher and stay open later. Right now we are open until 6:30, but what about 9pm?

admin answers:
That would be amazing to alot of parents actually, if you’re willing to do that.

Michael asks…
What should I charge for child care services in Southern California?
I’m going to be babysitting a friends baby within the next few months and I’m trying to figure out what’s an appropriate rate to charge her, but that’s less than the norm. I’ll be doing it 40 hrs a week out of my home and this would be the only baby I would be watching (besides my own). I’m thinking somewhere around $500-$700/month but I don’t know if that’s too much or not.

admin answers:
I was a nanny in Orange County before having my son, and the going rate was $10-$12 an hour. That was 2 years ago. You could offer the same, or negotiate a median price. Paying $15 or more per hour is crazy.
