Your Questions About Child Care Services

Daniel asks…
If a child was absent for 18 school days, does a school have a right to report him to Child care services?
The school didn’t notify parents about this decision
18 days for 3.5 months, not in a row, and 6 of them were excused.

admin answers:
Due to the amount of time that the student has missed school, the school normally calls in the truant officer. They seem to think that the student is skipping school even if they have doctors notes or excused absences. They should not be calling in the child services but they don’t care what the reason is.
Contact the school district and find out what the procedure is for notifying the parent of the students attendance or lack of attendance is. If they don’t want to talk to you, tell them you are going to the State Dept of Education. They don’t like when you go over their head.
My principal decided that doctors notes and excused absences were considered truancy and kicked me out of school. All due to medical.
I went to the State, Governor, Education Commissioner, as well as the White House. The US Dept Of Education wrote back.
The school needed to talk to you first, and find out what the problem was. They seem to believe they can do it their way and not follow the proper procedures of the state or district.
Hope this helps. Good Luck

Sharon asks…
What are some websites where I can post my child care services?
I’ve created a profile on care.com and posted an ad on craigslist. Is there anywhere else I can post that I have openings for children in my babysitting business?
Category

admin answers:
Since that is a very local business, you need to post with local services. Look at newspapers, radio stations, tv stations, schools, and churches to see if they have websites where you can post. Don’t forget old fashioned paper flyers and bulletin boards since you’re dealing with your local community. Word of mouth is the best advertisment for child care.

Sandra asks…
How much a month do you pay for child care services—at a daycare, not what you pay a person.?
I know prices are different all over… I am just trying to get a rough estimate. If it helps I live in El Paso, Texas. My baby will be just a newborn when I need it. Thanks!

admin answers:
$0 I couldn’t pay someone to watch something so dear to me!

Chris asks…
what percent do you receive back at tax time for paying for child care services.?
is childcare a tax deduction? I live in Maryland and I was told that it was.

admin answers:
Regardless of what state you live in, you receive a credit on your taxes. That means your tax liability is decreased by amount for which you are eligible. It is a teared system according to your income. The maximum you can use to calculate the credit is $3,000 for one child or $6,000 for two or more. You can get a credit anywhere from 20%-35% of the expenses paid by yourself for the tax year in question.
The amount of credit depends on your income, you cannot make a blanket statement as to how much you will receive according to how many kids you have. It is income dependent.

This is a great credit for people who have to pay for daycare and need a little break.
