George asks…

Are there any free parenting classes in Denver?

Long story short, court case is in AZ and I need to register and complete a parenting class due to my ex-boyfriend trying to go for “parenting time” in AZ. I need to at least register for parenting classes in order to appease the court. (Although I’ve done nothing wrong, as in harming my children, nor do I have any records whatsoever so I think this is just plain insane.) Does Denver offer any free or reduced price classes? Your prayers are also welcome. Thank you.

admin answers:

Most hospitals offer several different parenting classes for free. Good luck with everything! I’ll pray you have a healthy pregnancy and the baby is welcomed into a happy environment :)

Mark asks…

Schools responsibility to share information on parenting classes and resources?

Is it the schools responsibility to share information on parenting classes and other resources?

admin answers:

I’m not sure if its their responsibility but I know my son’s pre k teacher gives me all kinds of info on support groups and activities for Autistic children.

John asks…

What do you think of parenting classes that do a mechanical baby project?

I’m in a parent/child development class and in November, we’re doing a baby project. For this, we get a mechanical baby that cries every three to four hours and we have to hold a key in their back for about 10-15 minutes, to symbolize feeding them. We get the babies for five days, over night and over a weekend. We also have to take them to classes, when the teachers allow it. I cannot wait until we get to do this project, it’s most of the reason I wanted to take this class.

Anyway, just wondering your thoughts on the project and if you think it’s a good idea.

Oh, and btw, I’m a senior in high school, the class is open to ninth-twelfth, I think.

I took that class in high school. I remember when i had to “feed” the baby during the night…. I put the key in, and put the rubber band around the arm, Or something like that, to hold the key in place..and went back to sleep.
If you drive with the baby, do use the seat belt. Mine was in the front seat, and i slammed on my breaks and the baby went flying to the dashboard then to the floor, and i got points docked for that.

I will tell you this, that it is nothing compared to the real thing. It’s not even comparable in any aspect other then it’s a baby.
I think that for this type of class, they need to get real babies.. And have the class take care of the baby for 8 hours…
I’m sure alot of people would think twice about having sex! (not implying anything about you)

Lisa asks…

where can i find parenting classes for expecting fathers?

im 19 years old and expecting my first child the first week of april. I would like to find a parenting class for guys/men in or close to akron ohio i would prefer the classes to be free or at lowest cost to me any ideas?

admin answers:

Check in with your girlfriend’s OB. Our hospital offered a variety of classes. For what it’s worth, you usually don’t take them until you’re 6, 7, or 8 months along — so you’ve got a lot of time to find one.

Susan asks…

Where would I find local parenting classes?

I am looking for parenting classes in Southern California, but I am not having any luck. I would like to attend a class and not do it on line. Anyone have a suggestion where?

admin answers:

Most hospitals offer birthing classes, breastfeeding classes, infant child cpr and first aid classes, new parent classes to go over baby care skills etc. Our hospital even offers parenting classes based on age of the child (newborn, infant, toddler, preschooler, etc), and some are set up as a play group as well.

Sometimes these classes are free, other times there is a small fee to take them.
